Around the Farm

The season is starting to change.

Corn is starting to turn, here on the farm.

With that change, we have to start getting firewood ready for the cold months.

It looks as though some of the hens will be starting to molt.

Meanwhile, the Morning Glories are doing well.

I love the colors of the blooms.

There is a bit of a story behind the Morning Glories. Truckin' Man did not want me to plant them. He is highly opposed to ANY type of vine because of how thick and dense they grow here. I convinced him it was fine. It's only a Morning Glory.
They don't get that out of control.

Guess who was right? He was.
As the vines are starting to pull the fence of the chicken run down, he just shakes his and and says
"I told you so".

So, until the vines die back and he can repair the fence, Queen of the Farm will have to do her best to protect the ladies.

As much as she just posed pretty for this, and isn't much of a flock guardian, she has stepped up on occasion and saved them when a predator was near.

Hope you all had a great Labor Day, and are as excited for the change of seasons as I am!

    1. From what other people have commented on, they aren't normally destructive. Just proceed with caution!

  3. Happy Birthday! :) I can't believe how big your morning glories are. Mine are barely 3 feet talk and very sparse.

    1. Remember when you saw how sparse mine were and said maybe they just wouldn't grow there?

  9. That photo of the cornfield is gorgeous, what an amazing view! And I love your morning glories! I've always loved the look of vine, but my husband agrees with your husband. I love a natural yard with plants growing wild, but the hubby likes a more landscaped look. I'll wear him down one of these days 😀

    1. Thank you! This morning I've been trying to come up with somewhere else to plant the morning glories where they won't be as invasive. And, where my husband won't protest!
Good luck with wearing your hubby down, just don't let him get to say "I told you so!" That part just isn't any fun!

  11. I love farm scenes! On every visit to your blog I feel like I've had a mini-vacation! I love the blue morning glories because they remind me of our first home when we were newlyweds! But I'd never plant them! And don't ever plant a passion vine -- those are impossible to control or get rid of , *ever*!

    1. Thanks, Jean! And, if I ever run into a passion vine, I will be sure to not plant that one!
