Looking Ahead in 2017

Yum
In November, I had my 5 year anniversary of blogging. It hardly seems possible it has been that long!

It's been a lot of fun along the way. Sharing recipes, gardening experiences, road trips, what our critters are up too.... And more!
I cherish the friends I have made along the way, you all mean so much to me.

But, it may be time for a change. Some of you may have noticed that I took away the option for anonymous comments. I never used to allow them, but had complaints, so I then allowed them. But due to the quality of some peoples comments, they are no longer allowed. I had such rudeness over the past month or so, I came very close to walking away from all blog activity. But, my sister talked me off the ledge, handled the responses, and all is good again. Thanks... Sis.

But, this does have me wondering if I want to change things up a bit. Since Truckin' Man switched jobs and is local instead of over the road, I don't have quite as much online time as I used to. All of this leads me to wondering... What do you want to see here?  Do you want the same assortment? Or more garden, recipes, farm life. If recipes, anything specific? For two years, I have been following Trim Healthy Mama, which I haven't talked about on here, which has low carb recipes, among many others. Or "Cooking for Two" recipes? Cookbook reviews is something else I have considered doing more of.

If you have a moment, please comment or drop an email and let me know what sounds interesting to you! I want to hear wants of interest to you in your day! Even if it's just to say that you like the mix of what I currently have, I'd love to hear from you!

Hope 2017 is off to a great start for everyone!

  5. You need to stay true to you and write what brings you joy. When you write about what you love the readers will follow. If you cook for two then write about that and readers will adapt the recipe if necessary to feed more. Write about your chickens and your garden and Wisconsin summers and winters. Just keep writing and sharing. The ugliness will always be there, just don't let it win.

  7. I love the photography and garden posts. I have chickens so I always like posts on farm animals...recipes from the garden is nice too. My husband died in 2002 and my youngest (adult) son lives with me, and I often have my oldest son's three year old daughter with me, but I tend too look for recipes I can make planned leftovers out of, or freeze half for another meal if someone is sick or my son is out and I don't want to cook.

Seems like this year more bloggers are asking themselves if they want to quit..I think blogs are the most wholesome part of the internet right now..keep up the good work.

  8. Hi,
I just read Janie and her last sentence really made me shake my head YES SO TRUE!! I agree, bloggers are the wholesome part of the internet. I am happy your sister talked you into continuing to blog.
Well, you know Atticus would be sad if you did not share recipes. ;-)
Sam would be sad if you did not share Truckin' Man's adventures. And I would be sad if you did not share recipes, your garden, your farm, your pets, your beautiful area of Wisconsin, your road trips and your projects.
Keep up the great work!! I enjoy reading your blog.
    Love,
    Carla

  9. Oh Kris....please don't go anywhere! I'm sorry you've had rude comments. But not allowing anonymous comments was the right thing to do. And I agree with Stacy....post what brings you joy. I love everything you do. I love your recipes, your farm posts and your gardening tips. I still remember how we met....do you? That food exchange club. I knew we were kindred spirits from the start. And I value our friendship. So please...please stay around and post when you can, about what you love! I will surely follow! :)

I will be here, but I think I am going to amp up my gardening posts. Sharing is good motivation to get out there more. Wait until you see the new "thing" we are planting this year. You're going to love it!

  12. Congratulations on 5 years! 5 years is such a long time to keep at it. I always think of my husband, whose hobbies last a matter of months, not years, and I think 5 years takes dedication! 😂 I'm glad you aren't leaving, and I can't imagine how anyone could post a rude comment! Our community is usually so supportive. I agree with you though, it's funny how a couple of rude comments can completely turn the tables. I enjoy reading all your posts, especially on places you've visited, your garden, and I love the recipes you post. I guess I'm not much help, huh? 😃

    1. Thanks Jessica :) You are always a great help! The opinions have helped me decide to keep things pretty much as they are. But, I am going to try and put more focus on the the gardening, and a couple other idea's of some new things I might try. But, that is just a teaser for now :)
Hope you are having a great week!
